Should I get a computer tablet?

I am a truck driver, and do not care about apps, games, or fancy features. I just want something portable with which to read newspaper articles online. I have a subscription to Investor's Business Daily which I read at home on my desk top computer. I also like to read other online articles such as Yahoo Finance. Right now I read online articles on my Blackberry smartphone which is challenging b/c it is small. Do you know of a moderately priced tablet that is of good quality that doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles? Is now a good time to buy a tablet, or should I wait until they become more established? I think the field will be changing rapidly in the next year from competition. Thanks.
